WTF?
Exactly.
What’s the Point?
In one word: community. In another word: support. It’s about supporting all those people who aren’t connected to the resources of a large organization. It’s about having a space for creatives to come together and meet each other. Unlike all the meet-up groups and Pittsburgh chapters, it’s a physical space, a home base.
Why is this Different Than…
A Coffee Shop?
- We are trying to build a community and a resource for indy workers around town, not sell coffee (although we are serious about that too).
- We have a printer.
- You can bring your own food.
- We have a business model that supports sitting in front of a laptop. You may not know this, but buying a 2 dollar cup of joe and sitting for four hours is not helping your local bean distributor.
The Library?
- First, I love the library. If they had a microwave and I could make some noise, Catapult wouldn’t exist, but they don’t have a microwave and I can’t make noise.
- And B, for whatever reason, the library isn’t bringing together the type of people in the community we all exist in. I don’t know why… well, I do, but that’s a longer story.
A Shared Office Space?
- There are a few shared workspaces popping up in Pittsburgh. You should check them out. But I think there is a big difference between a place to park a computer and a community of cool people doing interesting things.
Who is Running this thing?
There’s me, Elliott. I went to a great school in Boston, and then a great school in Pittsburgh and stuck around after my degree to work for myself. Lately, I’ve been keeping busy with a startup in AlphLab, my consulting practice, and rock climbing. Most of the content is in my voice, and most of the design elements are from kevin boyle.
Who is this For?
People who are:
- Designers
- Developers
- Artists
- Old Souls
- Indy Workers who are tired of staying at home
- You! No seriously, if you found this site, it’s probably true.
People who:
- Want a place to have a laptop and a beer (people have been known to do that here)
- Need to print but don’t want to buy a printer
- Want to be a part of an indy worker community
- Don’t have a full time job
- Want to have a business meeting
- Want to work near other people working
How Much?
$150 a month gets you a key and your very own desk. Which means you can leave your external hard drives and monitors, customize with troll dolls, and work at 3am if you’d like. We also have a day rate. Can you find it on this website?
Do I Have to Sign a Contract?
We’ve recently been testing out the SuperSoft Sublease Agreement
